How to read these numbers

Monthly revenue today = current visitors × visitor-to-enquiry rate × enquiry-to-customer rate × customer value. This is what your site is generating right now from organic traffic (assuming all visitors are organic).

Monthly revenue at target = the same calculation at your target traffic level. The gap between the two is what SEO investment is buying you.

Net uplift after SEO spend = monthly uplift minus your monthly SEO investment. ROI = that net uplift as a percentage of the spend.

What this calculator assumes

  • Conversion rate and close rate stay the same as traffic grows. In practice, organic visitors usually convert better than paid (higher intent).
  • Customer value is treated as one-off. If you have repeat custom, multiply by average customer lifetime.
  • SEO compounds — the same monthly spend in year 2 typically delivers more traffic than year 1 because content and authority stack up.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a realistic SEO ROI estimate? +
It's a directional estimate. Real SEO ROI depends on niche competitiveness, content quality, and how well you convert traffic. The calculator uses your own conversion rate and customer value, so the relative numbers are meaningful even if the absolutes shift in practice.
How long does SEO take to work? +
Local SEO (GMB, citations, reviews) shows results in 4–8 weeks. Organic rankings for non-branded keywords typically take 3–6 months. Anyone promising results in 4 weeks is usually about to disappoint you.
What's a realistic monthly SEO spend? +
For UK local services, £400–£1,200/month covers ongoing on-page, content and link-building. For more competitive niches (insurance, legal, finance) it's £1,500–£5,000+/month. Below £300/month, SEO usually struggles to compete.
Is SEO better than Google Ads? +
They solve different problems. SEO is slower but compounds — traffic you build now keeps working. Ads are instant but stop the moment you stop paying. Most healthy businesses use both.
Why does my conversion rate matter so much? +
Because the same traffic with double the conversion rate = double the revenue. Often, fixing the website pays back faster than getting more traffic to it.
